Changes are happening at the Scotts Valley Water District! The District is excited to introduce David McNair as the new General Manager and Nate Gillespie as the new Operations Manager.
David succeeds long-time General Manager, Piret Harmon and has served as the Operations Manager for the District since 2014. He was responsible for leading projects such as the Orchard Run Water Treatment Plant upgrades, construction of the new Orchard Run Well and the intertie project which links the District with San Lorenzo Valley Water District to provide a more resilient water supply during emergencies. His experience in the water industry spans 40 years since his start at the San Lorenzo Valley Water District.
Nate succeeds David McNair as the new Operations Manager and joins the District from Soquel Creek Water District, where he managed the water system's day-to-day operations, including water production, treatment water system maintenance and emergency response. He has an extensive background in the water industry previously working at the Santa Cruz Water Department and the San Lorenzo Valley Water District.
Having served the District since 2012, Piret Harmon is stepping back to manage special projects. During her time at the District, she has become a regional leader in innovation, water efficiency and sustainable planning. Scotts Valley Water District was among the first water agencies in Santa Cruz County to install “intelligent” water meters and implement WaterSmart. Harmon also played a key role in the establishment of the Santa Margarita Groundwater Water Agency, which oversees groundwater management activities in the Santa Margarita Groundwater Basin. She is a role model in the water industry and the District is incredibly grateful for her years of dedication and leadership.
